UMMMMM HMMMMM
December 15, 2007
Today’s Passport Approved show on Indie 1031 Los Angeles was different than most broadcasts. It finally sunk in, Steve Schnur, who had been my co-host for the past 8 months or so was no longer doing the live show on the station every week. Due to his hectic work and travel schedule, it’s very hard for him to be at the station every Saturday. I really enjoyed doing the show with him, but completely understand he has a very important day job that he does as the Worldwide Head of Music & Marketing for the videogame giant Electronic Arts, which makes it difficult for him to be in LA every week. Steve flies around the world and the country more than anyone I know, so it’s understandable why his time is so tight; however, he be invited back whenever he is able to make a guest appearance. I’ll miss our in-studio chats, but since we’re still good mates…I’m sure those will continue whenever we see each other. Look forward to having him back on the show early next year and share some of the great music he comes across also with our faithful listening audience, or musical pundits as they say.
I was still numb this Saturday from the Passport Approved Christmas show at On The Rox at The Roxy in W. Hollywood this past Wednesday. I got drunk on all the great music…okay, I did have a few glasses of red wine too (it was a party, so I felt obliged to have a few if you know what I mean). Wow…what can I say, I was very impressed by Justin Hopkins, George Stanford, Meiko and Carolina Liar who all performed for our Christmas show. I think everyone in the audience was stunned by just how good all of these artists were live. Having so many of listeners respond so well to the artists was a really good feeling, because it’s always tough to please a knowledgeable crowd who can tell when an artist is great or bad. The feedback I heard was really good and so many of our faithful listeners were very impressed by all four artists. One of them actually will be appearing on the Carson Daly TV show in January as a result of Passport Approved Christmas show. Evidently, the talent booker for Jimmy Kimmel and Carson Daly were at the Passport Approved Christmas party and were impressed by the artists and that one in particular (who will be on Carson Daly’s show). Fast forward to this past Saturday, I was bit concerned. I decided to take two weeks off during the Christmas and New Year’s break and pre-record the show (which I rarely ever do, as I prefer doing the show live so I can interact with the listeners on Indie 1031). I got to the studio at 7am so I could pre-tape the shows. My voice was gone when all was said and done and I had to now do a live three hour show (this job isn’t as glamorous as it seems…but I love music and I love radio…so this addiction to this passion gets the best of me). It was really good to chat with Roy, the lead singer from Scouting For Girls. This band has done brilliantly well over the past year and I’m really happy to see them succeed…even though they seem like an overnight success…Scouting For Girls have actually been beating the pavement for 10 years…much respect to them I say. The phones lit-up like a Christmas tree when I played unsigned UK artist Cass Fox doing a remake of the classic Otis Redding song “Sitting On The Dock…UMMMMM HMMMMM this musical love to my ears and everyone else listening to the show by the sounds of it. A few of the other stand-out new tracks on this weeks show included Yoav and his song “Club Thing.” It’s a bloody small world, but I actually met Yoav back in 2004 when he was known as the artist Y. He met me at my hotel with his then manager and played me a few songs on his guitar. He was very talented and I recommended he check out producers Rollo Armstrong and Guy Sigsworth who I thought would be perfect for him to work with. I sent his demos to Rollo and Guy and then put his manager in touch with them to follow-up. I hadn’t heard from Y or Yoav as he’s known now for almost three years and then low and behold I get his CD from Rollo who has produced his new album and signed him to his label Field Recordings through Island Records in the UK. Now that is a bloody coincidence, and I’m very happy that things worked out for Yoav and he ended-up working with Rollo (strange how life works aye?). Another favorite was One eskimO…another new band that Rollo (Faithless/Dido’s brother and producer) worked with and sent me last week. The video for the single, “Hometime,” is amazing (check it out on YouTube). It reminds me somewhat of Rollo’s other ethereal project from a few years back called Dusted where Dido sang that rare track “Winter,” which is quite a master-piece if I do say so myself. Also, really fancied the new Pete & The Pirates single “The Understanding”, Kent’s “Elefanter,” Adele’s track “Hometown Glory” (which we premiered back in October in N. America and of course really liked French artist Paco Volume and his catchy little number “Cookie Machine,” which Brandon one of my producer’s turned me on to a while back.
Can’t believe 2007 is almost over and a new year is about to start. Time for me to grab a cuppa and finally put up my legs and rest for a couple of Saturday mornings in front of the telly and watch some English Football and hopefully catch a few games with my favorite childhood team Liverpool and our Captain Fantastic Steven Gerrard…talk about spirit…this guy has amazing team spirit and passion! Till next year, cheers and Happy New Year to all.
FROM MY SACK TO YOUR EARS
December 1, 2007
Waking up this morning and listening to some 90s Euro-disco from Sandra Cretu (the wife of Hubert Kah producer and part-time vocalist for multi-million selling band Enigma another Michael Cretu creation) put me in a jolly mood this morning. Don’t get me a wrong…I’m a generally jolly person in the mornings unlike Brandon (one of my two Passport Approved producers)…depending on his mood can be cranky, bitchy or nice. Molly (my other producer…well I’m lucky if she say’s hi to me). However, this morning she was friendly and actually said “hi” and got me a starbucks tea and scone…but NO napkin. Since Brandon and Molly are both from Iowa originally and never get me napkins for my tea snacks, it makes me wonder if Iowans use napkins? Someone please prove me wrong ![]()
Anyway, I loved today’s show. There’s just so much great music coming out from all four corners of the globe. I can’t get Welsh singer/songwriter Duffy whose song “Rockferry” we world-premiered on Passport Approved a few months back…phones light up like a Christmas tree whenever we play her…our listeners love her. Also, making it on our musical christmas menu today was Sweden’s Carolina Liar (the first rock band produced by world-renowned producer/songwriter Max Martin) and their song “I’m Not Over.” My mate Martin Dodd sent me over the demos a few months ago and I can’t get this band out of my head. I also can’t wait to see them do their first ever US public show in Los Angeles on December 12th at the Indie 1031 and Starbucks (don’t ask…don’t tell) presents “A Passport Approved Christmas” show at On The Rox at The Roxy on Sunset Blvd in W. Hollywood. I was also very impressed by Karoshi Bros (a duo out of the UK) who are like to big Christmas balls hanging off the tree….they are so good that they stand out (musically speaking of course). The Dido track “Winter” on the Dusted album (a side project of Faithless founder and Dido brother RolloArmstrong) went over very well today…it’s one of my holiday favorites and always puts me in good spirits. Boymongoose from India via Australia had me in chuckles with the bollywood and Southpark style remake of “12 Days of Christmas” (this is a classic and I recommend everyone to check out the video on YouTube for Boymongoose…very cool indeed). My co-host Steve Schnur on the Indie 1031 Los Angeles live broadcast of Passport Approved had a good time rockin’ out to the music today also..even though he was a bit under the weather…that man works too bloody hard in my opinion.
I’ve gotta roll “UK gangsta style” (thanks to Champ for calling in today and letting us world-premiere his awesome bootleg of White Stripes V Kanye West”), which was true musical bling to my ears. Till next time, it’s over n out from my musical sack to your ears. Jingle Bells to all!
LIFE AMONGST THE DEAD – 11.25.07
November 25, 2007
Ok, so doing a radio show is fun as I get to share a lot great new music and artists with real music pundits – meaning those who respect and appreciate this very personal art form. This Saturday our int’l radio friends, Karyn Hay from KIWI FM gave us a nice little sniff of what was happening Down Under (musically speaking…of course) in New Zealand. Also, the King of Tartan music (Jim Gellatly, Xfm Scotland) shared his weekly selection from Scotland with the Passport Approved audience. Both of these DJs rarely disappoint with their fine selection of imported musical goods. Where the **** is DJ Max from MotorFM in Germany? He’s been slacking off the past few weeks and its rubbing my tea cup the wrong way! I think a call to his Gaffer will do the trick (not to get him in trouble or anything…but c’mon…how long can it take to send in a five minute bloody segment once a week)? I like consistency as do the stations that broadcast Passport Approved – so c’mon get with the bloody program I tell myself quietly.
This Saturday’s special in-studio guests were the queens of Scotland (The Hedrons) who put up with a not to sharp Sat Bisla on the air. Don’t know what happened to me this Saturday morning, but the caffeine just didn’t kick in. Must’ve been the medication I’ve been on for my tonsillitis cure (which are finally just about gone). At 11.00AM world-renowned psychic Lisa Williams who does a very popular TV show called “Life Amongst The Dead” (she speaks to the dead) on Lifetime TV and its syndicated in 56 other countries was a guest on the show. Lisa, her hubby Kev and I have become friends thanks to a personal reading I had with Lisa a few months ago. She’s also a big music fan and even dead people like to get their groove on (well, so I’ve been told) and figured it’d be nice to have Lisa on the show. I’ve always been a skeptic about psychics after my experience with some lady named Sylvia Brown (in my opinion, her last name should be B*** S***). What a crock she was…her reading was so bad, I had to ask for a refund. I felt like a right arse (ass) for even seeing her in the first place. However a trusted friend of mine told me about Lisa and how she changed her life. So I figured what the hell, I’ll give it another go. First sentences out of Lisa’s mouth scared the crap out of me. She was so “spot on” about a personal conversation I had with my dad (which she had NO WAY of knowing) that I became an instant believer. Everything else that followed suit was so frighteningly accurate that I am now a believer. Cool thing about Lisa is she loved a lot of the music on Passport Approved including Reverend & The Makers, Ejectorseat, Bassboosa (her favorite band she told me), Karoshi Bros and The Ting Tings…she’s got great taste if I do say so myself.
Anyway, it was nice to have Lisa on the show…though I worry that she can read what’s in my mind (but she’s never called me out on it…so I guess I’m good for now J). Yes, the cheeky side of me does come out on occasion.
My favorite girl, DJ Jenna B (who I’ll be working for one day) ended off the show with her early Christmas well-wishes. If anyone knows how to empty my already thin wallet…she can. She’s also the only one that can put me in my place if I step out of line…she seems to be able to do that with everyone she meets. I’ve met my match! She needs to put producer Brandon in his place…he’s been a cheeky monkey…whining about everything lately (someone find him a date, or someit). Over and out!
IT’S ALL GONE VIRTUALLYINTERNATIONAL – 11.17.07
November 17, 2007
So it’s another Saturday morning and I’m gearing-up for the weekly Passport Approved show on Indie 103.1FM in Los Angeles. I’m quite a chipper morning person overall; however, getting up at 6:15AM after working 14 – 16 hour days five days a week, is not what I call relaxing on the weekend. However, since radio has always been my passion and I consider it more fun than work, I make an exception to the injustice being done to my lack of sleep (in general).
I get to the station at 8:20AM (after my shower and 40 mile commute). It can take almost two hours from me waking-up to getting down to the radio station. All looks calm in the studio once I get there and start to make preparations for the show. Getting all the music ready that’ll be aired on today’s program, checking the production board, filling-out the appropriate on-air paperwork ready and making sure that everything will run smooth on my end takes a bit of time. At 8:50AM I get a call from Steve Schnur, who co-hosts the live LA version of Passport Approved with me that he’s waiting downstairs, so I rush downstairs to get him. Producer Molly and Brandon are no where to be found (granted Molly’s getting me my hot tea and banana bran muffin). I’ve stayed away from Starbucks as much as possible lately after one of their workers basically threw scolding hot water all over me by some freak accident. Anyway, I need the tea to get the Bisla mental engine running, or else it could spell disaster…well maybe not that bad, but it’ll make me slow on the mental draw if I’m not caffeinated. Speaking of Brandon and Molly – they rarely ever come to the studio together. But today, low and behold the two of them will be there at the same time…this could be war. I look forward to see who draws first blood J Actually, the don’t loathe each other…I’m kidding. They are like two peas in a pod…both from Iowa and both not the most chipper in the mornings…but they do get the job done and that’s ultimately what counts considering they come in on their own time as they’re passionate about being the shows producers.
Today, is a mini-marathon at Passport Approved…we’ve gone VIRTUALLYINTERNATIONAL. First in the studio is talented UK singer/songwriter Billy Bragg….oops I mean Frank Turner. This kid has got a killer voice…bloody nora…can this boy sing. I’m impressed. Saw him at the Hotel Café earlier in the week after being turned onto his music by Mike Davies, DJ at BBC Radio 1 who was filling-in for me on Passport Approved a few months ago with producer Brandon who also fell in love with his music and was on my bollocks to check him out. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but after seeing him at Hotel Café I was kind of impressed, but this Saturday morning’s performance was very good indeed. Up next, was former South African residents (now residing in Phoenix) – the Kongos. A band of four brothers who were absolutely sensational! Their eclectic mix of alternative, rock, Bollywood and African musical nuances had all of us in the studio with our jaws on the ground. They were brilliant! Phones lit up like a Christmas tree and I thought the band had planned this – having their friends call-in and say how good they were live. But in reality, I could tell the listeners were just as impressed as we were and non of the calls were orchestrated, but actually very much real. This Saturday morning is turning out to be a real treat.
Up next, was Swedish band Carolina Liar who are fronted by a lad called Chad (an American) who is doing is first ever radio interview for the band Carolina Liar. World-renowned producer/songwriter Max Martin co-produced this band with some assistance from global A&R ace Martin Dodd who send me the band’s four track demo EP a few months back. I’ve been playing it since on Passport Approved and getting some really great reaction. The band melds elements of U2 with the E Street band, Coldplay, Kent and Keane – how can you go wrong with that sensation in your ears?
Shortly thereafter, Raine Maida, the lead-singer of Canada’s Our Lady Peace who have sold over a gazillion records called-in live from Canada. Was this guy in the toilet I thought to myself? There was a large echo coming back over the phone lines. Raine assured me he was not in the loo, but rather, in his echo-filled living room. Even with the echo-ing it was nice to catch up with Raine about his excellent new solo album, which has many great songs including one of my faves, “Sex Love & Honey,” that producer Brandon turned me on to.
My friends Karyn Hay from KIWI-FM in New Zealand and John Kennedy DJ at Xfm Manchester & Manchester London in England both sent their weekly music recommendations for Passport Approved, which as always were on point!
I’d noticed that already we’d had guests on this week’s show from the UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Sweden and it was time for one more before we could say VIRTUALLYINTERNATIONAL on Passport Approved. It was one of my faves of the past year – a band called Skybombers from Melbourne, Australia that is currently in Los Angeles writing and recording their brand new album. How I came across this band is quite strange. I was in Australia over a year ago and met with the band’s managers who presented me with an EP. I hadn’t even heard the music or knew anything about them. But all of a sudden, the hair on my arms, chest and back (and I didn’t even realize I had any hair on my back) stood up. I told them, I’m going to LOVE this band. Zoran and Darren the managers of Skybombers were puzzled. They said you haven’t even heard the music or even know anything about the band so how do you know you’ll like them. It was intuition I guess (I have pretty good intuition) and sure enough when I got back to the US last year, I pop in the demo EP from Skybombers in my car and instantly fell in love with the band’s music. Fast forward one year, now they are in LA making their new album with producer Rick Parker (BRMC) and they’re in the studio on Passport Approved (funny how these things happen). Always good to see the Skybombers…they are one of the most talented and nicest bunch of lads I’ve met. I did notice that they all had moustaches (and being so young) I didn’t think they could grow facial hair yet. Anyway, they explained that in Australia guys grown moustaches in the month of November as a way to support cancer victims and raise money for this great cause. Producer Molly has a big crush on the band and so I figured I’d embarrass her and say to the Skybombers that when the month is over she’d like to shave off their moustaches and keep the hair in a plastic bag. In return, I was thinking in my head that I should jokingly say that producer Molly was growing hair on her stiff upper-lip to join them in their cause and they could shave her moustache. But then common sense kicked-in and told me it was probably not a bright thing to say, or even funny for that matter. Sometimes, I tend to amuse even myself.
Many of today’s guests were all in town for a special Passport Approved show were putting together for our faithful listeners thanks to help from my former intern Dean Raissen who now books shows at the Viper Room (a good lad indeed). Tuesday 20th November, 2007 it’s Skybombers, Raine Maida, Kongos and Maryandi (from South Africa) for a great show at The Viper Room on Sunset. Looking forward to a VIRTUALLYINTERNATIONAL night indeed.
Time for me to grab a cuppa! Bye.
tonsillitis on passport approved – 11.10.07
November 10, 2007
It’s Saturday November 10th, 2007 and I got texted this morning by my “Indie 103.1FM” Los Angeles co-host Steve Schnur that he can’t make it to the show today. Thanks Steve! Did you hurt your other eye, I ask myself in a cheeky kind of way? I’ve got tonsillitis and now I’ve got to do all the talking on the show. It sucks living 40 miles from the radio station. I was up until 1.00AM as Passport Approved presented The Ting Tings for their first ever public show in the US at On The Rocks at the legendary Roxy. The Ting Tings were great and definitely a band that’s poised to blow up in 2008 worldwide. It’s such an honor to be able to premiere bands like The Ting Tings first in N. America on the radio, when no one is a believer. I trust my gut (and it’s hard to miss these days…lay-off of the daily muffins Sat!)…and give artists a chance to be heard, when no one else is quite ready to give them that opportunity.
Today, Jesse from Kongos (a very cool band from South Africa via London now residing in Phoenix, AZ…are you confused yet?) called-in and it was great to chat with such a knowledgeable, intelligent and passionate artist. Followed-up by Kongos was Dolly from the quirky U.K. band Bo Pepper who I love playing on the show (even Perez Hilton is a fan…when of the few artists he doesn’t slag-off by the sounds of it). My producer Brandon (who does a good job as a fill-in for Steve I might add) tried to make the moves on Bo Pepper (which is Dolly’s puppet and the inspiration behind the band name), c’mon Brandon you can do better than that mate (check out the video to Brandon’s wandering hands on Bo’s legs on YouTube soon). To put the icing on the cake, Katie and Jules from The Ting Tings popped-by for their first live on-air radio interview in the US. They did a session a day before for my good friend Nic Harcourt at KCRW…who has very good taste in music and has been a champion to many acts before anyone took note of them (Norah Jones, Coldplay, Keane to name a few). Granted I’ve sent Nic many new artists – he’s a real music anorak. Nic is also a great human-being and has always been a good friend to me first and foremost. That’s rare to find in LA…in a town where so many people get star-struck and get in the music business for their egos or the “fashion” of it. It’s nice to be in similar company like Nic, who does what he does for the passion – hence he has nothing to prove.
After three hours live on-air, my tonsillitis were killin’ me. Nothing is more disgusting (other than egomaniacs) than seeing the flaring of the tonsils on the back of your tongue. Just when I thought I could go home and rest my tired feet, I realized I had an hour and a half to go…recording the vocal bits for the syndicated shows for Passport Approved in the US and Germany. Thankfully, my mate TK from “Indie 103.1FM” does the Passport Approved segments for our new radio partners at Xfm Scotland, Xfm Manchester and Xfm London in the UK. Left the studio at 1:45pm and off to the barber’s to get my $10 haircut. I know sounds cheap, but you know what, I like my Barber…she’s always been good to me over the years (never *ucking up my hair) and you can’t buy loyalty!
SORE THROAT, SLOW MEMORY…GREAT MUSIC!!!
August 25, 2007
It’s Saturday morning here in Los Angeles and I’ve absolutely shattered. I guess doing the red eye a couple of days prior to/from New York is not a good idea especially, when you’ve got a four hour radio show ahead of you with a plethora of guests. Fortunately, I had producer Brandon and our new side-kick Monte in the studio helping me out.
Dave from Nottingham, England’s Headway called in live from the UK for his very first radio interview anywhere in the world. He was great! Have you heard Headway? If not, you’re missing out big time. Any fan of Coldplay, Keane, Travis, Snow Patrol or Radiohead should have this band on their list of favorites. Producer Josh Abraham worked on their forthcoming debut album. All I can say is that it’s a corker (brilliant)!
Our friend Karyn Hay from Kiwi FM in New Zealand gave us a little sniff of what’s happening down under in her neck of the brush (musically speaking of course) in Auckland with a new tune from the Phoenix Foundation. Killer track to say the least.
The legendary knob-twister (producer) Owen Morris who has worked with The Verve, Fratellis, Oasis, Ash to name a few called in to Passport Approved on his holiday in Spain. Core-blimey, I’m absolutely gob-smacked to have him calling in on the show to help us World Premiere his latest discovery Exile Parade from Warrington, England. This band is the “dogs bollocks” of rock…absolutely brilliant. They’re unsigned right now but destined to be massive…like the headache I had this morning (but in Exile Parade’s case….I mean it in a very sincere and complimentary kind of way.
Up next on this busy Saturday radio show morning was Aussie/Deutsche duo known as Sam Sparro doing their first ever FM radio interview in the world on Passport Approved. The duo are getting a lot of worldwide label interest all of a sudden after being played on Indie 103.1FM and Passport Approved…thanks to a tip our producer Brandon got from an Atlantic Records A&R rep called Mollie Moore in LA…thanks for the music Moll’s, but sorry that the cat’s out of the bag on Sam Sparro…that’s a great thing! Its’ good to see a talented band like Sam Sparro getting the attention they deserve as they’ve been working their bloody tails off. Today, sees the launch of the record….hence a record release party. I have to say our listeners are the best….they sure know how to make artists feel loved and they evoke the truest passion for music…which was evident from the response Sam Sparro garnered after giving away copies of their new EP, Black And Gold.
The last interview on the show today was by Dan (the drummer) from Liverpool, England-based trio The Wombats. Alex Gilbert gave us their demos about two years ago and the response has been fab. Alex is the UK A&R guy who gave BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe…my former UK co-host on Passport Approved the demo of the Killers, who played them on his show and essentially got them their deal…as Island Records US A&R guy Rob Stevenson heard the band on Zane’ s show and signed them according to what he told me anyway…Back to the Wombats. Dan was briliant. He was calling me from the bloody toilet in Liverpool. I dared not ask what he was doing in there, but Alex proudly announced he was having a weee (piss). We chatted about their fantastic new album, Boys Girls & Marsupials, which comes out next month in the UK. The Wombats make such great noise for a trio…I along with everyone on the show, most importatnly our listeners just love this band. We’re so happy the band is having great success and everyone is lovin their tunes..that’s what great music is all about…connecting with you on a personal level. From a soccer (football) stan-point I would be beaten-up as a Liverpool fan for having an Everton fan like Dan on the show (but heck, he makes great music and that’s my passion…so his passport was approved on the show. Dan left the show by describing to us how two lads we peeing on the side wall of the pub where he was calling us from. He was quite graphic…which made me salivate for a pint of beer and a pee on the side of a pub thereafter (one can only dream right?).
I’ve talked a hell of a lot to day…I’m a big jet-lagged….my sore is getting throat (I have tendency when I’m shattered to read sentences backwards…..oops), my memory is slow…..so my mouth will speak before my brain has interpretted what it’s (mouth) is supposed to say. I feel like I sound like a total idiot at times…but that’s me…I try to be me without covering up my mistakes…luckily I have so much great music from around our beautiful planet to make listeners as passionate about the show as I am. Till next time….gooney-goo-goo.
KONICHIWA BITCHES!
July 20, 2007
So, it’s Friday 20th July 2007 and I’m sitting on Japan Airlines Flight from London, England to Osaka, Japan and I’m thinking. I hope the bloody food on this flight is going to be as tasty as some good ole fish n chips. I’m feeling tired as I envision the 13 hour flight ahead of me (hate those long-haul flights…but until someone invents a human transporter, this’ll have to do for now). I hope there’s some banging tunes to check out on this flight. Sit back, relax and fasten your seat belt as my JAL 777 flight takes of into the sunset. I insert my headphones into the in-flight audio system and scroll through the various channels. Traditional Japanese music…not quite my cup of tea! Next up, Japanese classic tunes…again, not my cup of tea or biscuits. Ok let’s give it a third try….J – Pop (cheesy but I can handle it for a minute). Wait a sec me ole china…what about the ole iPod? I stand-up during the “fasten your seat” belt sign was alight (I feel pretty courageous doing it)…of course, knowing my luck I get caught and get a stern warning from the stewardess in a very polite Japanese kind of way (if that makes sense). I then proceed to quick stick my my arse (ass) back in my seat. Finally, when it’s ok to stand-up, I get up and take my bag from the luggage holder…grab iPod…turn on power and crank it up with Sweden’s Robyn and her track “Konichiwa Bitches.” Now you’re talkin’! feel the rumble in my jungle and fall asleep dreaming about programming next week’s Passport Approved radio show. NOT!!!!. Till next time, it’s over and out my konichiwa bitches…this bitch is tired.
bisla blog number one
June 9, 2007
So, this is my first ever blog, here we go…
It’s after 12pm and I’m shattered. I think the lack of sleep is catching up with me finally…but the music keeps me going. Driving 40 miles to the radio station (each way) does allow me to catch up on my music listening and calls to family in Europe. I usually grab my tea and donut on the way into the studio; however, this morning I didn’t and I can sense the lack of energy…so can the listeners.
Another Passport Approved radio show is under my belt. So much great music from all over the world…it’s like having a continuous fix of your favorite drug (music is my drug). Got amazing response today on Scott Matthews, Ting Tings, Remi Nicole (Rock & Roll is a smash…can’t believe we got to give her the first ever radio interview in the world…thanks of course to my producer Brandon for hooking it up, but also co-host Steve Schnur on the LA version of Passport Approved who turned me onto her in the first place). The Pigeon Detectives…what can I say…amazing! Fortune Drive…and Sonny Jim…fantastic too! There’s way too much great music and I can’t wait for next week to do it all over again.
Oh yeah, by the way if I was distracted by Bassboosa…it was the music!
Cheers,
Sat
